If you're stressed, get lost in a story: 100 films to watch

We found this mural last month in Cambridge, Massachusetts during a visit with family. It was a block of beauty by my standard, an ode to American cinema.

The news makes my head hurt lately. Never mind the personal challenges we face in our lives, whatever yours may be.

Do you know what’s helped me? Stories. Not my story, or real stories in the news, or viral content on social media. I’m talking about stories of the past and present - movies, plays, books and songs - that give me perspective and a moment to be transported.

If you haven’t heard of the AFI 100, it’s a list of the 100 greatest movies of all time according to the American Film Institute. Many of my friends hadn’t heard of it. My favorites so far: On the Waterfront starring a charming Marlin Brando and Raging Bull. Yes, Toy Story also made the list.

I promise, there’s nothing better than taking the time during a busy week... giving yourself two hours to get lost in worlds that aren’t our own.
